ISIAQ is the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate. The society was founded in 1992 by 109 international scientists and practitioners following the 5th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate, Indoor Air '90 (Toronto, 1990).

ISIAQ is an international, independent, multidisciplinary, scientific, non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the creation of healthy, comfortable and productivity-encouraging indoor environments.

In January 2000, the Dutch chapter of ISIAQ, was founded in the Netherlands. ISIAQ .NL wants to promote and develop the objectives of ISIAQ in the Netherlands. ISIAQ .nl aims to build a bridge between scientific knowledge on indoor air quality and climate and the daily practice as well as the national policy concerning the indoor environment.
Creating and maintaining a healthy indoor environment requires a multidisciplinary approach. For that reason has members from different backgrounds, such as scientists, building owners, facility managers, architects, building, construction and air-conditioning engineers, medical practitioners, occupational hygienists, policy makers and suppliers of eg. carpeting and air-conditioning components.

Some of ISIAQ's most important activities include:

  • Organizing symposia on indoor air quality and climate
  • Acting as a knowledge centre for indoor air quality and climate and healthy buildings
  • Publication of ISIAQ Taskforce Reports in Dutch language
